Attraction Information

Woodstock

Once a seaside suburb of Cape Town, Woodstock lost it's beach in the 1950's with the creation of Cape Towns Foreshore. Although it has lost its appeal, it was a stronghold for integration during Apartheid.

Urban Art

The bare and sometimes dilapidated walls of some of the buildings have become the canvas for local street artists to 'beautify' the area and reflects many aspects of the South African people.

Urban Regeneration

The lower parts of Woodstock became a run down with litter, crime and drugs; the face of Woodstock has changed dramatically over the last decade. Trendy restaurants, innovative media, offices, shops and furniture showrooms have sprung up in cleverly converted and revamped warehouses and abandoned buildings.

General Information

As with many cities around the world, the regeneration of old urban areas and influence of charasmatic and sometimes eccentric people that inhabit these spaces makes Woodstock a place to see and be seen.
